About FastConvert
Free, fast, and private file conversion tools — powered entirely by your browser. No uploads, no servers, no compromises.
Our Mission
FastConvert was created with a clear and simple mission: to provide everyone with access to professional-grade image and PDF tools — completely free, with no strings attached. We believe that essential file utilities should not be locked behind paywalls, cluttered with advertisements that slow down your computer, or designed to harvest your personal data.
Every day, millions of people around the world need to convert an image format, compress a photo for an online application form, merge multiple PDFs into a single document, or resize an image for social media. These are simple, everyday tasks — and they should be simple to accomplish. That's why we built FastConvert: a collection of powerful tools that work instantly in your browser, without requiring downloads, registrations, or payment.
How FastConvert Works
Unlike most online file conversion services that require you to upload your files to a remote server for processing, FastConvert takes a fundamentally different approach. All processing happens entirely inside your web browser, using modern web technologies.
When you use any FastConvert tool — whether you're converting a PNG image to JPG, compressing a photo to 20KB for a government portal upload, or merging PDF documents — your files never leave your device. Here's what happens under the hood:
- Image processing uses the HTML5 Canvas API, a built-in browser technology that allows pixel-level manipulation of images directly on your device.
- HEIC conversion (for iPhone photos) uses the heic2any library, which decodes Apple's HEIF format entirely in JavaScript without any server-side processing.
- PDF operations (merge, split, compress, rotate, and image-to-PDF) are powered by pdf-lib, an open-source JavaScript library that creates and modifies PDF documents entirely client-side.
- Smart compression uses a binary search algorithm to iteratively adjust JPEG quality until the file meets your exact target size — all happening in milliseconds on your device's processor.
This client-side architecture means that FastConvert works even when you have a slow internet connection or no connection at all (after the initial page load). It also means your sensitive documents — ID cards, passport photos, financial PDFs — are never exposed to third-party servers.

Who Uses FastConvert?
FastConvert serves a wide range of users across India and globally. Here are some of the most common use cases we see:
- Students and job seekers who need to compress passport-sized photos to exactly 20KB or 50KB for government exam portals like UPSC, SSC, IBPS, and state PSC applications.
- Professionals and freelancers who regularly merge invoices, contracts, and reports into single PDF documents for easy sharing.
- Web developers and designers who convert images to WebP format for faster website loading times.
- iPhone and Apple users who need to convert HEIC photos to JPG or PNG to share them with Windows or Android users.
- Small business owners who need to resize product images for e-commerce platforms or compress PDFs for email attachments.
- Teachers and educators who compile handwritten notes and scanned pages into organized PDF documents.
The Technology Behind FastConvert
FastConvert is built with modern web technologies that prioritize performance, privacy, and compatibility:
- Vanilla JavaScript — No heavy frameworks. Our code is lightweight and loads fast on any device.
- HTML5 Canvas API — For image manipulation including format conversion, resizing, cropping, and compression.
- pdf-lib — An open-source PDF manipulation library that runs entirely in the browser.
- heic2any — A JavaScript library for converting Apple's HEIC/HEIF image format.
- Responsive CSS — Clean, modern design that works beautifully on screens of all sizes.
We deliberately chose a zero-backend architecture. There is no server processing your files, no database storing your data, and no API calls transmitting your documents. When you close your browser tab, all traces of your files are permanently erased from memory.
